Public Affairs Scholarship Now Open

7th February 2019

The 2019 Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship application process is now open, with Year 12 Girton Grammar Student, Ella Fisher, having received the award from Zonta International last year.

The award recognises young women, ages 16-19, who are demonstrating leadership and commitment to public service and civic causes.

The goal of the award program is to encourage the participation of young women in public affairs by recognising their commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements, and their dedication to the empowerment of women.

Ella said she was thrilled to receive the award in 2018.

“I think it’s important to help others and I know if I were ever in need there would be people to help me, so it’s my responsibility, in turn, to help others” she said.

Girton Grammar provides a variety of opportunities for students to undertake community service and encourages all members of the school to take part in giving back.

“Community Service is highly valued at Girton and we are strongly encouraged to take up opportunities to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

“I would highly recommend applying for this Scholarship if you are passionate about supporting sustainable changes that benefit all of humanity based on women having equal participation in decision-making processes,” Ella said.
