Students Get Ready to Walk

4th May 2018

Student volunteers from Girton Grammar School are preparing to help stage the RSPCA Million Paws Walk that will take place at Lake Weeroona from 8.30am on Sunday May 20.

The RSPCA Million Paws Walk is the animal welfare charity’s biggest fundraising event and will be held simultaneously around Australia, with different locations across Victoria.

Headmaster at Girton Grammar School, Mr Matthew Maruff, said that student volunteers would be helping to run the event in Bendigo and that many students would be taking part in the walk.

“The students will be assisting Rotary Next Generation with their fundraising barbeque, assisting animal care vendors such as vets with product sales, selling raffle tickets for the event, operating the registration marquee and operating the Million Paws Walk merchandise marquee.

“This is the second year that the School has supported this event through our Community Services programme.

“Money raised through entry fees, donations, online fundraising and merchandise will go toward RSPCA Victoria’s work to end cruelty to all animals and we have many students passionate about this cause,” Mr Maruff said.

RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk Bendigo event is 8.30am to noon at Lake Weeroona. The 1.4km walk starts at 10am. Visit: www.millionpawswalk.com.au/locations/VIC/bendigo
