COVID-19 update to the Girton community

30th July 2020

The following is correspondence from the Acting Head sent to the Girton Grammar School community:

Dear Parents and Carers

COVID-19 UPDATE

I am writing to confirm that there has been no change in our position since my last correspondence. We do not have a confirmed COVID-19 case within the Girton staff/student population, but we are taking precautions.

The situation remains that we have a family member of a child in the Senior School that has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The family member has not been on the Senior School or Junior School campus of Girton in the past two weeks.

Other updates;

  • The Victorian Premier, Mr Daniel Andrews, has announced that from 11.59 pm on Sunday night, every regional Victorian must wear a mask when out of their home. More information on implementing this measure in schools will follow when we have received more detail from the relevant Government departments.
  • Daily temperature testing will continue in the Senior School next week.
  • We are seeking advice regarding the appropriate time for students and staff who have “close contact” with families at Catherine McAuley College or St Josephs’ School, to return to school.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the situation evolves. The families we have spoken with today have been enormously supportive, and we are grateful.

Yours sincerely

Dr Emma O’Rielly
Acting Head
