Girton Grammar School in Bendigo has achieved excellent VCE results with a median ATAR score of 80 and 22% of its Year 12 VCE students ranking in the top 10% of the State.

Headmaster of Girton Grammar School, Mr Matthew Maruff, said that teachers were immensely proud of the graduating Year 12 cohort who had worked hard to earn strong results.

“This group of students has connected as a cohort, considering the feelings and hopes of one another, reflecting the value that the school places on the teaching of Emotional Intelligence.

“With more than half of our students achieving an ATAR over 80, myriad future pathways are opened up for our graduates.

“Our Year 12 students have encouraged one another, particularly in the past two years, and taken opportunities beyond the classroom to balance their studies, whilst recognising the importance of their academic output on their futures.

“Our teachers and parents also need to be acknowledged in these excellent VCE results. They have instilled belief in the students and provided valuable feedback and care along the way,” Mr Maruff said.

3 Girton students achieved ATARs above 98, placing them in the top 2% of Victoria:

  • Prageeth Gamage (School Dux – 99.55)
  • Joe Flexmore (98.50)
  • Cassandra Liacos (98.10)

Other VCE highlights for Girton Grammar School are as follows:

  • 7% of Girton’s students finished in the top 5% of the State
  • 22% of Girton’s students finished in the top 10% of the State
  • 51% of Girton’s students finished in the top 20% of the State
  • 88% of Girton’s students finished in the top 50% of the State
  • Lily Begg achieved a perfect score of 50 in Music Investigation

“Our Year 12 students understand the importance of striving for excellence but importantly, that the journey to get there is the measure of the person that they are.

“I am confident that this group of young people will leave Girton well prepared for whatever comes next and with a lifelong love of learning and desire to develop personally,” he said.
