As a recipient of the La Trobe Infinity Awards in 2022, Girton Year 12 student, Viran Dhanapala, attended La Trobe University for the inaugural Infinity Awards Experience Day on Tuesday 24th January 2023.
The La Trobe University Infinity Awards are presented to Year 10 and 11 students from the Bendigo region who demonstrate academic excellence in their studies and exhibit a strong sense of social and environmental responsibility in their extracurricular activities.
Viran was invited to spend the day with students currently studying at La Trobe in the STEAM and Health fields, where he heard about their journeys to university and experiences so far.
Viran also took a tour of the campus, participated in a number of activities, and heard from the Future Students Centre regarding course options and pathways.
“I was very fortunate to have received the Infinity Award, and I would like to sincerely thank the school and La Trobe University for the experience,” Viran said.
“I had a great time meeting new people and getting to see La Trobe in Bendigo. On the day we also had the opportunity to participate in activities in the Rural Health School and Bendigo Tech School.”
When he graduates Year 12, Viran would like to study engineering.
