Forever Young Rock Knight

4th June 2019

Lead singer of one of Australia’s most successful rock bands, Eurogliders, will headline this year’s Forever Young Rock Choir concert at the Ulumbarra Theatre on 17th September.

With a number of ARIA awards and nominations and chart-topping recordings over the past three decades, Grace Knight is one of the most enduring talents in Australian music. Renowned Australian guitarist, Sam Lemann, will join her and together they will support Bendigo’s much-loved community Choir in a night of unforgettable musical entertainment.

Director of the Forever Young choir, Mrs. Laura Dusseljee, said that the choir was delighted to have Grace Knight join them for their 9th annual concert, themed “Crazy”.

“The average age of our choir members is 75 but many of them recall the classic hits from the Eurogliders in the 80’s and there is much excitement about this year’s repertoire of songs.

“The Girton Grammar student string orchestra and jazz band that will accompany the choir is very much looking forward to performing with such an accomplished music legend.

“They will learn so much from Ms. Knight who is legendary for her live performances and the students can’t wait to meet Sam Lemman,” Mrs. Dusseljee said.

The Forever Young choir, established in 2011 as part of Girton Grammar School’s Community Service program, gives senior citizens from Bendigo and beyond an opportunity to come together every week in a fun and friendly environment to sing. The annual concert has become a much-loved community event in Bendigo and is the highlight of the year for all who are involved. As well as the Choir Director, Girton Grammar School students provide instrumental support for the choir, event management and publicity for the annual concert, the venue and morning tea for weekly choir rehearsal.

“The choir is made up of an incredible group of people. They are so passionate about what they do and they support each other in every way.

“The energy they bring to rock songs of all eras and all genres has to be heard to be believed and I am so proud of their effort and dedication.

“The choir will provide backup vocals for Ms Knight who will sing Euroglider hits as well as chart-topping covers. The music for the student ensembles will be specially arranged for the performance of all songs by the talented Mrs. Cally Bartlett,” Mrs. Dusseljee said.
