District Champion for Lions Youth of the Year

21st March, 2017

Year 12 student, Jameson Crawford (12 Frew) has won the ‘Lions Youth of the Year ’ (LYOTY) District Final which took place at a special Gala Dinner in Carisbrook, last Saturday evening.

Jameson was the Zone Finalist for Bendigo after two rounds of competition and competed in the District Final against six other competitors – from Ouyen, Ballarat, Donald, Sydenham, Pascoe Vale and inner Melbourne.

Jameson endured a long and rigorous panel style interview on the morning of the competition, followed by two impromptu questions, each requiring a two minute response, before finally presenting his planned speech.

There were many excellent speeches, both impromptu and prepared, marked by great delivery, as well as profound and widely-encompassing ideas.

In the end, Jameson scooped the pool – winning both the ‘Best Speaker’ and ‘District Champion’ awards!

He now goes on to Shepparton on April 8 – to compete in the State Final. The Nationals are in Hobart in May.
