Community Involvement

A great number of students are involved in an activity or sport in their local community (non-school based activity). Many of these sports, classes and community activities may count towards Girton’s co-curricular programme, providing they involve a regular time commitment.  Involvement in our local community is important and Girton students are encouraged to participate in local community groups as well as school based co-curriculum.

For a Community Involvement activity to count towards your co-curricular commitment, students must already be enrolled in a current Girton co-curriculum activity.  Secondly, they must submit a Community Involvement Activity form to Sports Coordinator, Ms Holly Speed, explaining their engagement level to the sport/class/activity (eg. time, training, goals, and achievements); students must re-submit the form each time/term/year that they want the activity to count towards their co-curricular commitment.

In some cases, the application may be subject to approval by the Head of the School.

Activities which would qualify are:

  1. Sporting Club Involvement
  2. Community Service
  3. Performing Arts groups

If you have further enquiries please contact Sports Coordinator, Ms Holly Speed in the Gym Office.

Terms: 1 – 4

Note: A maximum of ONE Community Involvement Activity is permitted per term. The other activity should come from the co-curriculum offered within the School.
