VCE Drama of the Right Variety

12th December, 2016

With a bit-part in a compulsory Year 8 Production his only stage experience, Ethan Lees auditioned for the School’s massively successful musical theatre production of Beauty and The Beast and landed the lead role, such is the can-do attitude of this soon to be double-degree University student.

The ATAR that Ethan received today will likely allow him to study a double degree in Biomedicine and Engineering at Monash and maybe his rational personality has helped to get him there.

“I’m not big on expectations but I do motivate myself by holding onto hope.

“When I auditioned for the Senior School production, I did not expect to land the role of The Beast, but I certainly hoped for something.

“Likewise, with VCE, I’ve just focused on doing my best rather than putting all kinds of unrealistic expectations on myself,” he said.

Ethan said that his favourite VCE subject was Chemistry.

“I find the subject content in Chemistry so interesting and our teacher, Mr Waldron, has done a fantastic job of keeping it stimulating all year.

“I have all of my wonderful teachers at Girton to thank for helping me achieve my best this year and all through my Secondary School years,” he said.

Ethan also credits his friends for getting him through VCE and pushing him along.

“My friends have been really good for keeping it competitive, but also being supportive when I needed it the most,” he said.
